Becoming a "Digital Citizenship" School

Curriculum & Instruction

The use of digital resources accessed by students continues to grow daily. Our first priority for our students is ensuring that they are safe and comfortable in the online world. The teaching and support staff at Woods Elementary participate in professional development opportunities and deliver lessons to support a safe online environment for students. Clovis Unified, in conjunction with curriculum developed by Common Sense Media has provided resources that include grade-level appropriate lessons that are used within the classrooms at Woods Elementary. In order to meet requirements established by our Clovis Unified Governing Board Policy and our e-Rate grant, each child has received the contents in “Lesson 1: Technology User Policy” and each classroom teacher will provide at least two more lessons.

Family Communication

Woods Elementary values the partnership of families and community. We believe that keeping families informed through clear communication via multiple media sources (weekly newsletters, school website and Facebook page, etc.) will allow parents to stay current with their child's education. In our efforts to be a "Digital Citizenship" School, we strive to provide parents information on resources that they can access at home to further encourage students to practice safe technology. In addition, parent informational nights serve to enlighten families on important topics surrounding student use of digital resources.
