Pennies for Patients

What do you get when you add:  222 one dollar bills, 3 fifty cent pieces, 3,730 quarters, 6,048 dimes, 4,570 nickels, and 35,815 pennies?  You get $2,347.45.  That’s the amount of money the Woods Wolverines collected for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  The student council conducted their annual Pennies for Patients campaign from March 15 to March 26.  Mrs. Golling’s class was the top money earner.  The fifth grade class collected $267.79.  Ms. Coyle’s kindergarten class placed second with $182.10.  The Wolverine’s can now claim membership in the Livesaver’s Club for having raised over $2,000.  We collected three times the amount of last years campaign!

Spring Choral Festival Performance

The Woods Concert Choir performed on March 23rd in the CUSD Spring Choral Festival.  The 95 member choir received the highest score you can receive for elementary choirs; a Command Performance! This is also the first time since the opening of Woods Elementary School that the choir has received this outstanding achievement!  They will be receiving a plaque for the school to commemorate this musical achievement for choral music this year. Congratulations Woods Concert Choir under the direction of Lenora Burkett and accompanist Janyce Moomjian.

Kids Day

The awesome wolverines broke the Kids's Day record!  We made $481.34 for Valley Children's Hospital, and sold every paper we had.
