A Special Message from Woods Elementary 10/7/20

Hello Woods Elementary Families,

I hope you are all doing well. We appreciate all you are doing to help support your child’s learning and education. We appreciate you working with us because we know you are doing a lot through this process.  I know that our Woods families have many questions about the possible return to school given the many reports on the news and the current health data for Fresno County.  Clovis Unified is working hard to create and implement a Return to School Plan that meets the guidelines from the Fresno County Department of Public Health.  The current hope is that elementary schools have an option to return to in person learning on November 3rd.  This is our current target date we are shooting to meet. There are many things to do to get ready and process to have those families that desire in person learning the opportunity to bring their children back to Woods safely.  Due to the requirement to socially distance and placing student desks six feet apart, we will need to return to school in a Hybrid model. Unfortunately, our rooms are not large enough to have more than approximately 16 students at a time.  We are currently working with CUSD Board, District Administration and Facilities Services on finalizing that schedule.  This will certainly look very different than our “normal” schedule in past years for meals, recess, PE, library time, and so many other things.  Unfortunately, at this time, we will not be returning to school as we left it in March. Once we have a schedule provided to us, we will get this information to you as soon as possible to assist you with making a choice for in person learning or continuing with our current online learning system.

Between October 9th - 16th,  a survey will be sent out to all parents and guardians providing information regarding the available Instructional Models and asking parents for their preferred model for their student(s).  To assist you in this important selection, I am sharing the following information that I have been given at this time. Things continue to evolve and change as we adjust to our new reality and the changing COVID data for Fresno County. As always, I am providing you the most recent information I have, but everything is subject to change as our reality changes. Thank you for your understanding and working with us through this process.
